A study published in the “International Journal of Sport Psychology” established a direct correlation between mental toughness and performance appraisal. This research was based on a sample group of 23 participants, with high and low mental toughness. Each participant was asked to undergo a 30 minute cycling trial at 30, 50 and 70% of his maximum uptake level of oxygen. At the end, it was observed that individuals with high mental strength felt 70% less exhausted than the mentally weaker individuals.
